CAPCA Operates the Overnight Emergency Shelter in Conway
The overnight emergency shelter serves adults 18 and older. There are 36 beds: 24 beds for men and 12 for women in two separate dorms. The Shelter is located at 1116 Gum St. in Conway, AR. Guest must be able to shower and tend to themselves without assistance. The shelter is not a hospital and does not have nurses or aids on staff. The facility offers showers, bathrooms, a courtyard area, washer and dryer access, computer access for home or job searches, limited transportation services, and case management opportunities.
- Check in begins daily at 4:30. Beds are not guaranteed but are provided on a first come, first served basis.
- Dinner is provided daily around 6:30pm.
- Guest personal items must fit into the locker provided. No grocery carts allowed.
- Grab and go breakfast is provided daily.
- Guest checkout each morning by 8:00am. All belongings must go with them.
Warming or Cooling Stations may operate on days of extreme weather (when staffing is available). Information is posted on our Facebook Page.
HOTEL STAYS
Families with children will be served through hotel stays (when funds are available) and referrals. Eligible households experiencing homelessness may receive up to 3 nights hotel stay to allow them time to obtain permanent housing.
Due to extremely limited funding to qualify for hotel stays, the client MUST be verifiably homeless AND meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Physically disabled and receiving disability
- Pregnant
- Elderly (65+)
- Have children (17 and under) that will be staying in the room with them.
- Have medical conditions that require the use of electricity.
